Carl Paladino Is an Idiot

We must stop pandering to the pornographers and the perverts who seek to target our children and destroy their lives. I didn’t march in the gay parade this year — the gay pride parade — this year.  My opponent did.  And that’s not the example that we should be showing our children, and certainly not in our schools.

And don’t misquote me as wanting to hurt homosexual people in any way. That would be a dastardly lie. My approach is ‘live and let live.’ I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family. And I don’t want them to be brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option – it isn’t. Read the rest of this entry »

Huckabee Compares Gay Marriage to Incest and Polygamy

Counterculture Conservative has this story of some comments by Governor Huckabee on the slippery slopes of gay marriage. Huckabee seems to thing that allowing gay marriage is no different that legalizing drugs, allowing polygamy, or endorsing incest. Counterculture Conservative is inclined to agree.

Poll: Majority of Californians Support Gay Marriage

A recent LA Times poll suggests that a majority of Californians support gay marriage.

Registered voters surveyed in the latest poll said 52% to 40% that “same-sex couples should be allowed to become legally married in the state of California.”

That’s the latest in a string of surveys that have found similar results. A PPIC poll released March 25 found respondents backing gay marriage 50% to 45%.  And a Times/USC poll last November found a 51% to 43% split on the issue. As with the previous surveys, the latest Times/USC poll showed a sharp polarization by political party and ideology, with Democrats and liberals supporting same-sex marriage by large margins and Republicans and conservatives opposing it by equally lopsided margins. J.D. Hayworth is an Idiot

The Politico carries the sad tale of Republican J.D. Hayworth, former Arizona Representative and current challenger to John McCain’s senate seat, who is apparently suffering a severe case of rhetorical idiocy.

Hayworth seems to think that the best way to support limited government and respect the limits of the Constitution is to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. His argument for increasing federal control over institutional constitutionally assigned to the states? People might marry their horses. Read the rest of this entry »

Take Me to Your Leader

Erick Erickson at Red State seeks to answer the elusive question of who is leading the conservative resurgence by examining the atmosphere at CPAC:

Many, many reporters have asked me who the leader of the conservative movement is right now or who the leader of the tea party movement is.

They rarely report the answer, though they should be paying attention to it. In the CPAC straw poll, one name dominated the pack. With the highest favorable ratings (73%) and lowest unfavorable ratings (8%), Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina led the field — scoring higher popularity than Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Mike Pence, John Beohner, Mitch McConnell, or Michael Steel.
