Van Helsing at Right Wing News brings us this stomach turner. Some prevert by the name of Phillip R. Greaves, II (I hope the first wasn’t a perv as well) has taken it upon himself to write a “how to” guide for the pedophile on the go. And this book was available on Amazon.
Amazon has finally pulled down from Kindle The Pedophile’s Guide to Love & Pleasure: A Child-Lover’s Code of Conduct by a pervert named Phillip R. Greaves, 2nd. The author’s product description, via Geekologie:
This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certian [sic] rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter [sic] sentences should they ever be caught.
It appears to be a how-to manual for raping children nicely.
I’d like to take a time-out here to note the gender-theory jargon implied in the word “pedosexual.” He’s trying to legitimate molesting children by making it seem like pedophilia is a normal sexual orientation and not an abnormal one.
Well, apparently, pulling a guide for pedophiles wadded some liberal panties.
Amazon’s reaction when customers began to scream in outrage was typical liberal sanctimony:
Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable. Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions.
So long as no one says anything politically incorrect, there is no right and wrong. You may find it objectionable, but in the name of tolerance quack quack quack…
First off, one simple point: it is not censorship for Amazon to refuse to carry this book. It is responsible and reasonable judgment. This is not a matter of someone advocating a change of laws or a unique perspective on pedophilia, or a personal account of dealing with the disorder, or a discussion on treatment or punishment, or anything else related to it. It is a book on how to pick up kids, and Amazon has a moral obligation not to make this book available to potential predators. This is not a First Amendment issue — it is one of responsible action.
So of course, the left has to take the side of … the pedophiles.
The book was pulled to the relief of decent Americans — and to the outrage of creepazoids infesting the largest liberal blog, The Huffington Post. Sample comments, gathered by Air2air:
babybecks: Thought police coming through…
trojoe: Dont like it? Don’t buy it. Pretty simple.
indred : If they pull this book, it could become a habit where amazon will no longer be neutral and have to pull books that people don’t like or agree with.
The Skeptical One: Pedophilia is defined as a sexual *attraction* to children, NOT as the practice of having sex with children. This is an important difference, because you cannot control who you are attracted to. Pedophiles are not sick monsters who go around raping children left and right, they are human beings who have, unfortunately, been afflicted with a desire for children. I would go out on a limb and say that the vast majority of pedophiles never act on, or even express, their sexual attraction. It is unfortunate that this is so, because it is possible that through counseling their lives could be made easier. Keep in mind, however, that the urge to have sex with children is not evil, the actual ACT is. There exists no such thing as an evil thought.
facepalm12: Why censor this book?
babybecks: …is reading it going to turn you into a pedophile? No. Is reading it going to make you a better pedophile? I doubt it. Is censoring it going to make kids safer from pedophiles? even more doubtful.
asiclilpup: This is just the morality police yelling and screaming about something they don’t like. Leave the book alone. 99% of the population isn’t going to read it, and among those who do, the vast majority will never actually molest a child, and those who do were going to do so before the book.
I noticed a couple of interesting points in these comments, such as the comment about there being no evil thoughts, just evil acts (what are the odds this person supports codes against “hate speech”), the insistence that “most” pedophiles who get the book won’t molest children.
Now, I’m all for freedom of speech, even when it involves cases of something obscure and perverted. But again, this is not a book that talks about pedophilia and issues related to it, or expresses personal thoughts and experiences of a person struggling with pedophilia, or even fantasies of a pedophile. It is a book that tells pedophiles how to seduce children. Plain and simple. If this were a book by a gun enthusiast telling how to kill people, there would be complaints if Amazon didn’t pull it. But in the name of “tolerance” and the unquestioning acceptance of any sexual act or fetish no matter how bizarre, the leftists come to the defense of this piece of garbage.
And again, this is not a First Amendment issue. The government is not prohibiting this book from being published. Amazon is not preventing it from being published. No one but Amazon has the right to determine what Amazon sells. In addition to being a sincere look at the results of the out-of-control “tolerance” movement, this is also a look at how the left views censorship: it’s censorship if you don’t want to buy it.
