Reconciliation, Deem-and-Pass, the CBO, and Obamacare Smackdown

There’s just so much juicy stuff on Obamacare out there, I don’t know where to begin.

Let’s start by looking at that CBO report on Obamacare, and what Obamacare will actually cost. Kevin Glass at Townhall brings up some of the budgetary manipulations that were used in the CBO report to make Obamacare look better than it is:

War on the Establishment Media and the Deification of Obama

Quinn Hillyer at the American Spectator calls for an all-out war on the mainstream media. The main point of contention here is an LA Times article attacking Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, for her political activism, apparently on the grounds that her activities constitute some kind of conflict of interest for Justice Thomas. Andy McCarthy at the National Review Online takes a pretty aggressive tone against the LA Times, and Hillyer supports his position.

Texas Textbooks and School Social Studies Curricula

The Texas Board of Education has approved social studies curriculum changes put forth by conservative critics. The conservative push on the curriculum came partially as a result of efforts by a Hispanic groups to include more material on Hispanic figures and history in textbooks, as well as a perceived liberal bias in modern textbooks.

Right-Wing Venom and Hate

Newsbuster has two very interesting cases that show the hatred, contempt, and venom that right-wingers routinely spew about their political opponents.

For our first case study, we turn to the far-right archconservative Tea Party extremist Bill Maher. Commenting on the recent shooting at the Pentagon, Maher commented that he wished the shooter, who was killed by police, had been Glenn Beck (video at the link):

Sexism from the Left

Colleen Raezler at Newsbuster has compiled a list of the top 10 crudest attacks on conservative women, highlighting attacks from the Left that don’t rise abouve sexual or violent innuendo. Of course, the Left supports women, and conservatives are sexist pigs — unless that conservative is a woman, in which case she apparently deserves what she gets.

Tea Klux Klan?

NewsBusters recounts more hysteria from nutjob Keith Olberman. Apparently, at a recent Tea Party convention, former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo made mention of a kind of “civic literacy” test. Olberman responded with cries of the KKK and Jim Crow and instituting laws to keep blacks and the poor from voting.

Birth of the Birthers

Conservatives are taking a lot of flak for the so-called birther movement, which alledges that Barrack Obama was not born in the United States and hence is not legally able to be president. Presumably, if this were to be proven, Obama would be removed from the presidency and arrested, or at least spoken to harshly and given a copy of the home game or something.
